About NZ School Terms
New Zealand schools operate on a four-term calendar year. Term dates are set by the Ministry of Education and apply to all state and state-integrated schools. Private schools may have slightly different dates.
The school year typically runs from late January to mid-December, with breaks between each term. The longest break is over the summer holidays between Term 4 and Term 1 of the following year.
